Intl Film Music Critics Assn announce 2017 Award Nominees
The International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA), an organization of online, print and radio journalists who specialize in writing and broadcasting about original film and television music, announces its list of nominees for excellence in musical scoring in 2017, for the 14th annual IFMCA Awards.
In a wide open field, the most nominated composers are Alexandre Desplat and Daniel Pemberton, who both received four nominations, Michael Giacchino, who received five nominations, and John Williams, who received six nominations for new work, plus an additional three for archival re-releases of some of his classic scores.
Each year the IFMCA goes out of its way to recognize emerging talent in the film music world, and this year is no exception.
This website was created partly to promote the book series, Musique Fantastique [Second Edition] 100+ Years of Fantasy, Science Fiction & Horror Film Music by Randall D. Larson, but more importantly is intended to be a resource for news, views, & interviews about music for science fiction, fantasy, and horror films. As an extension of the books, it provides additional material and links to further resources about this unique genre of film and television scoring.
