Surprise! Bear McCreary’s THE CLOVERFIELD PARADOX Score Album is Available – Digital: Now, CD: “Soon”
By Randall D. Larson
THE CLOVERFIELD PARADOX, the third film in what will become a quadrilogy later this year (a fourth film, tentatively titled OVERLORD and reportedly taking place during World War II, is now filming), debuted without warning on Netflix on Super Bowl Sunday. Set before, during and after the events of the original CLOVERFIELD (and, evidently, just before the events depicted in 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE), the new film follows a team of astronauts who are left stranded in space after they perform a test of their enormous particle accelerator that causes the Earth to suddenly disappear.
Composer Bear McCreary, who scored 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE and is emerging from his impressive beginnings as a TV scorer (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, THE WALKING DEAD, OUTLANDER, AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.) to becoming a major contender in feature film composition, joining EUROPA REPORT and 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE as especially outstanding works. His boutique music label, Sparks & Shadows, released a digital soundtrack album on Monday, with a CD version promised “very soon.”
