MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVOLUTION, with Score by Bear McCreary, now streaming on Netflix
MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE is an American animated superhero fantasy television series produced by Kevin Smith and Powerhouse Animation Studios. It is a sequel to the 1983–1985 series HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE by Filmation, albeit ignoring the events of 1990’s THE NEW ADVENTURES OF HE-MAN (1990). The plot of REVELATION explores unresolved storylines from the original 1980s series. In REVELATION, Teela joins forces with He-Man and the other Masters in their quest to save Eternia from the grip of darkness.
Netflix released the first series, MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVELATION, in two parts, with five episodes debuting July 23, 2021, then five additional episodes on November 23, 2021. Netflix now has released the continued saga return as MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVOLUTION, which premiered its first part (the third overall) on January 25, 2024 and consisting of 15 episodes to be presented in three parts. The series features a fine voice cast, including Chris Wood, Mark Hamill, William Shatner, Liam Cunningham, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Lena Headey, Diedrich Bader, Alicia Silverstone, Gates McFadden, and Melissa Benoist.
Composer Bear McCreary has scored all of the episodes thus far, with powerful orchestrations and massive thematic contours, joined by his musical team at Sparks and Shadows. His main theme from REVOLATION is carried over into REVOLUTION. “It’s good to be back for new adventures in Eternia!” the composer wrote in an online post.
