David C. Williams Scores Eerie Thriller THE WOMB
Composer David C. Williams scores THE WOMB, a new horror thriller from director Frank A. Cappello (AMERICAN YAKIZA, NO WAY BACK, STEELE WOOL, MALIBU GOTHIC), starring Cami Varela, Anzu Lawson, Jamison Jones, and Chase Coleman. THE WOMB centers around Sami (Varela), a deaf woman who waits for a family that never returns. The mystery of “why” is at the heart of this psychological thriller that involves a malevolent entity that has left her entire neighborhood barren. As a visual cinematic experience that pushes the boundaries of storytelling, Frank Cappello’s psychological thriller invites viewers to unravel the psyche of a damaged mind and will keep them guessing until the shocking climax.
“THE WOMB certainly has a lot on its mind,” writes Bobby LePire in his review at FilmThreat. “The psychological thriller is partly a response to the COVID-19 pandemic and tackles themes of parenthood, grief, love, trust, and trauma. It does all this while juggling two parallel storylines. Plot A is about Sami, the only person left in her neighborhood. She’s still in her home, awaiting the return of her family. However, due to a monstrous entity, the reason her neighbors are gone, they will most likely never come back… The other story is about young Sami (Hannah Zamora). She’s gravely ill and slowly losing her hearing. Her father is very worried for her but tries his best to keep the child’s spirits up. Unfortunately, the loss of her dog is not helping matters. The film intercuts these two threads to paint a complete picture of Sami and explain what she’s genuinely waiting for and what the evil being needs from her.”
The film premier’s on February 27, 2024.
