Christian Henson Scores UNWELCOME Horror Film -from the makers of 2012 Irish Horror Film GRABBERS
UNWELCOME is a new folk horror film directed by Jon Wright, co-written by Wright and Mark Stay. The film has to do with married couple Maya and Jamie, who escape their urban nightmare to the tranquility of rural Ireland only to discover malevolent and murderous goblins lurking in the gnarled, ancient wood at the foot of their new garden.
The movie stars Hannah John-Kamen, Douglas Booth, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, Colm Meaney and Kristian Nairn. The film has also reunited the GRABBERS creature team; including prosthetics by Shaune Harrison who has worked on some of the world’s highest grossing blockbusters including the HARRY POTTER FILMS, STAR WARS: THE PHANTOM MENACE and AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON along with creature designs by Paul Catling (MALEFICENT, THOR, FANTASTIC BEASTS) and longtime Wright collaborator VFX supervisor Paddy Eason (28 WEEKS LATER, HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN, GRABBERS).
The film has been scored by Christian Henson (WOLFBLOOD, TALES OF HALLOWEEN, ROBOT OVERLORDS, GRABBERS, POIROT TV series, ALIEN: ISOLATION game score), a multi nominated (including Ivor Novello and World Soundtrack Awards) and multi award-winning composer. With over 45 films to his name, he has proved to be a prodigious and versatile force within the UK film industry.
UNWELCOME premiered at the Sitges Film Festival last October 14th and was released in Ireland and the United Kingdom on January 27, 2023, by Warner Bros. Pictures. A USA release has not yet been announced.
