Morgan Kibby Scores THE POWER for Amazon Prime Video

THE POWER is an upcoming British science fiction drama television series developed by Raelle Tucker, Naomi Alderman, and Sarah Quintrell for Amazon Prime Video, based on Alderman’s 2016 novel of the same name The first season is expected to consist of nine episodes, and is scheduled to premiere on March 31, 2023. The series stars Toni Collette, John Leguizamo, Halle Bush, Ria Zmitrowicz, Auli’i Cravalho, Jos Cleary-Lopez, Toheeb Jimoh, Nico Hiraga, Heather Agyepong, and Josh Charles.

Premise: The world of The Power is our world, but for one twist of nature. Suddenly, and without warning, all teenage girls in the world develop the power to electrocute people at will. It’s hereditary, it’s inbuilt, and it can’t be taken away from them. Coming alive to the thrill of pure power: the ability to hurt or even kill by releasing electrical jolts from their fingertips, they rapidly learn they can awaken the Power in older women. Soon enough nearly every woman in the world can do it. And then everything is different.

The series is scored by British composer, classical pianist, cellist, and vocalist Morgan Kibby.  has soloed internationally with orchestra, performed with the SF Opera and Marin Theater Company, and upon graduating the Lycée Français joined French band M83 as a writer, vocalist and member of their touring band. Her first score for Eva Husson’s film BANG GANG in 2015 premiered to critical acclaim in the Platform competition series at TIFF, and was later awarded Best Original Score at Les Arcs European Film Festival. Subsequently, Kibby attended the 2016 Sundance Composer Lab and has gone on to score projects for Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, the CW, as well as films that have premiered at major international film festivals. Recent genre scores have included THE HUMAN ELEMENT, INTO THE DARK, TWO-SENTENCE HORROR STORIES (14 episodes), AMERICAN HORROR STORIES (1 episode), TALES OF THE WALKING DEAD (3 episodes).
