Outlander: Season 7 – Opening Title Sequence Features Skye Boat Song by Sinéad O’Connor
Here’s a look at the newest iteration of the OUTLANDER opening title sequence. The latest rendition of the Outlander opening title is performed by Sinéad O’Connor. Season 7 of the romantic, time-traveling drama series will return in Summer 2023.
Music for the series is composed by Bear McCreary. The title song is an adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s poem “Sing Me a Song of a Lad That Is Gone,” set to the tune of the Scottish folk song “The Skye Boat Song.” For the first half of season two, the second verse of the opening theme is sung in French to reflect the season’s French setting; while during the second half of season three, the second verse of the opening theme has Caribbean music to reflect the season’s Jamaican setting.[81] The fourth season opening theme has a colonial American sound. “I have had a lifelong dream to collaborate with the legendary Sinead O’Connor,” commented composer Bear McCreary in a Tweet earlier today. “That dream finally came true! Thank you, Sinéad, for bringing your voice and spirit to my music.”
The series stars Caitríona Balfe (Claire Fraser), Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser), Sophie Skelton (Brianna MacKenzie), Richard Rankin (Roger MacKenzie), John Bell (Young Ian), David Berry (Lord John Grey), Caitlin O’Ryan (Lizzie Beardsley), and Paul Gorman (Josiah and Keziah Beardsley). New additions to the cast include Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom, Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Hunter, and Joey Phillips as Denzell Hunter.
Based on the Outlander novel series by Diana Gabaldon, OUTLANDER debuted in 2014, a fantasy drama about an English combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743. There she encounters, falls in love with and marries a dashing Highland warrior named Jamie Fraser, a tacksman of Gabaldon’s fictionalized version of Clan Fraser of Lovat and becomes embroiled in the Jacobite rising.
Season 7 is said to focus on events featured in Gabaldon’s sixth and seventh books of the Outlander series, “A Breath of Snow and Ashes” and “An Echo in the Bone.” We’ll get to pick up with Jamie racing across North Carolina to get to Claire before she’s hanged for crime she didn’t commit,” wrote Alexandria Ingham in the website clareandjamie. “After that, we’ll move onto the storylines in An Echo in the Bone. This involves some time spent in Scotland, and we know filming has returned to Lallybroch.”
