Intrada Announces the Complete CD Soundtrack to SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY

While a CD was released at the time of the film’s initial appearance in theaters, it was a single disc of highlights. Some time later, a digital-only release made an appearance featuring a greatly expanded program. Fans clamored for a CD release of this deluxe program and Intrada presents, at last, the complete album, including John Williams’ theme for Han Solo, “The Adventures of Han” and original STAR WARS music and featuring an action-packed, massive score by John Powell that perfectly captures the epic scope of the STAR WARS universe.

While Williams’ STAR WARS scores are rich in themes for characters and settings, strangely SOLO was the only character that didn’t have his own theme. Not until this origin story of sorts came about and Williams was finally able to craft a theme for the cunning and complex character. And it fits him perfectly. Powell’s lengthy score is a stunning work in its own right, with a beautiful romantic theme, exhilarating action sequences (including chorus at times), and an overall sense of adventure, rollicking and fun you’d expect from a chapter in this renowned science fantasy series.

Intrada’s 2-CD package has a running time of over two hours and includes a plethora of artwork, all-new liner notes including an in-depth interview with John Powell, and a special slip case to house the jewel case. This handsome package would not have been possible without the generous cooperation of the folks at Lucasfilm and Disney.

The liner notes for this one are a little bit different than the norm. They consist of a lengthy, in-depth interview by John Takis with composer John Powell earlier this year. “We talked all about his music, his STAR WARS experience, and what it was like to collaborate with the one and only John Williams,” said Takis.
