Takeshi Furukawa Scores Live-Action AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, on Netflix Today
AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, also known as AVATAR: THE LEGEND OF AANG, is an American adventure fantasy television series. It is a live-action, eight-episode adaptation of the animated television series of the same name (2005–2008). First announced in September 2018, Albert Kim is the showrunner, with a cast that includes Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Ken Leung, and Daniel Dae Kim. The series was released on February 22, 2024 on Netflix, and consists of eight episodes.
Premise: A young boy known as the Avatar must master the four elemental powers to save a world at war — and fight a ruthless enemy bent on stopping him.
The series is composed by Takeshi Furukawa, a Japanese-American composer and conductor. His works have spanned the concert stage, films, television, video games, and advertising campaigns, and is known for scoring is known for the video games, THE LAST GUARDIAN (2016) and PLANET OF LANA (2023), and serving as an additional music arranger for the animated series, STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS (2008).
