Ramin Djawadi scores Netflix Sci-Fi Series 3 BODY PROBLEM

3 BODY PROBLEM is an upcoming American science fiction television series created by David Benioff, D. B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo, based on the Chinese novel The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin. It is the novel’s second live action adaptation after a 2023 Chinese television series, THREE-BODY (which refers to the incoming invasion of a highly-advanced alien civilization called Three-Body).

Emmy Award winner Ramin Djawadi (GAME OF THRONES, WESTWORLD, IRON MAN, HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, PACIFIC RIM, CLASH OF THE TITANS, UNCHARTED, ETERNALS, TOM CLANCY’S JACK RYAN, A WRINKLE IN TIME) has scored the series. Netflix Music will release the official soundtrack album for the streamer’s original series, which features selections of the show’s original music.

A fateful decision made in 1960s China reverberates in the present:. Set against the backdrop of China’s Cultural Revolution, a secret military project sends signals into space to establish contact with aliens. An alien civilization on the brink of destruction captures the signal and plans to invade Earth. Meanwhile, on Earth, different camps start forming, planning to either welcome the superior beings and help them take over a world seen as corrupt, or to fight against the invasion. Ye Wenjie (Rosalind Chao) is an astrophysicist who saw her father brutally murdered during the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Later, she was conscripted by the military because of her scientific background and sent to a secret radar base in a remote region, where a group of scientists partner with a detective to confront an existential planetary threat.

The series was due to be released in 2023, but showrunners Benioff and Weiss insisted on filming one more scene that wasn’t originally on the script. Right around that time, the Hollywood strike of 2023 started, and it delayed the filming of this scene in a few months, yet Benioff and Weiss insisted this scene must be added. Ultimately, the scene was filmed after the strike and the show moved for a March 2024 release. – IMDB
