Intrada Releases Expanded Soundtrack to Jay Chattaway’s SILVER BULLET

Based on the Steven King novelette, Cycle Of The Werewolf, SILVER BULLET tells about a small town in which brutal killings start to plague the close knit community. Marty Coslaw, a paraplegic boy who was given a custom-built wheelchair/motorcycle, which he nicknames the “Silver Bullet, is convinced the murders are the doings of a werewolf.

Jay Chattaway scored the 1985 film, which was released that year by Varèse Sarabande on a 14-track CD. Intrada’s release expands the score into a full 30-track/56:08-minute presentation remastered from the original three-channel stereo mixes made in 1985.

Chattaway anchors his score around a highly melodic major-key theme that plays both in scenes with Marty on the move and in the end, serves as a freewheeling vocal. Another more emotional layer of the score comes with a minor-key theme, more a series of chords, that carries a feeling of melancholy and brings a sweet-sad timbre in key scenes, particularly when Marty’s sister Jane seeks evidence supporting his claims. Knowing the werewolf is coming for them next, Marty and Jane convince Red to take Jane’s silver cross and Marty’s silver medallion to the gunsmith, who melts them down into a silver bullet…

Intrada’s new CD is also remastered from the original three-channel stereo mixes made in 1985. John Takis offers informative liner notes and Kay Marshall’s design features a strong packaging with flipper-style booklet cover. The Intrada Special Collection CD is now available from Intrada.
