THE WITCHER: BLOOD ORIGIN Soundtrack Released Today – Music by Bear McCreary

Netflix Music has released the 17-track soundtrack album for the limited series THE WITCHER: BLOOD ORIGIN. The new series serves as a prequel to the Netflix television series and will consist of four episodes.

The series is created by Declan de Barra & Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and stars Sophia Brown, Laurence O’Fuarain, Michelle Yeoh, and Mirren Mack. The 6-part prequel is set 1,200 years before the events of THE WITCHER television series, BLOOD ORIGIN will depict the creation of the first Witcher, as well as telling the story of seven outcasts in an Elven world who join forces in a quest against an all-powerful empire. It will also explore the ancient Elven civilization before its demise. The new series will premiere on December 25 on Netflix.

The prequel series is composed by Emmy Award winner Bear McCreary and is available now from Amazon and, shortly, from other major digital music services.

The first season of THE WITCHER consisted of eight episodes and was released on Netflix in December, 2019, and featured a score composed by Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli; this season was based on the short story collections The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny by The Witcher creator and author Andrzej Sapkowski; these tales precede the main Witcher saga. The second season also consisted of eight episodes and was based on the novel Blood of Elves; this season was scored by Joseph Trapanese, and was released in December, 2021. Netflix had renewed the series for a third season, which will be released in mid-2023. A composer has not yet been announced. In August 2021, an animated spin-off film titled The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf was released, focusing on the origin story of Geralt’s mentor and fellow Witcher Vesemir; that series’ music was composed and performed by Brian D’Oliveira.
